Tickets on sale for benefit spaghetti dinner

A spaghetti dinner to benefit the family of Mark Liti who passed away Aug. 23, 2022, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 in the fellowship hall of St. Mary, Mother of God Church, 608 High St., Freeport.

Cost is $10, dine in or takeout and the menu includes spaghetti, salad, roll and beverage. Meatballs will be sold separately for $1 each. A bake sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. and there will be a basket raffle, 50/50 and music by The Knockoffs.

Tickets are available at the church or by calling the office at 724-295-2281 and will be sold at the door.

Rotary to award scholarships to college students

Rotary District 7280 is accepting applications for academic scholarships from college students for awards that can up be to $5,000.

Students can apply the award to their sophomore, junior or senior years as well as study abroad or postgraduate studies, but preference will be given to undergraduate studies. Awards are based on financial need, academic achievement and community service of the applicant. Students are eligible for only one award.

Participants needed for LB Veterans Day parade

Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars is seeking participants for the annual Veterans Day parade planned on Nov. 11.

Groups and individuals wishing to participate should contact post commander Lee Johnson at 724-882-4195 or lfj12646@yahoo.com to be assigned a position in the lineup. Deadline is Nov. 1.

Wednesday : A card party will be at6:30 p.m. at St. James Parish activity center, 109 Owens View Drive. Games will include 500, bridge, cinch, pinochle, canasta or a game of your choice.
